What makes our vocational training programme a success
- While other vocational training centres are overloaded with national curriculum covering many subjects of which some are not relevant to the learners. We have synthesized the government syllabus and focused attention to provide youths with a core set of skills in knowledge, attitude and skills.
- While other schools teach only in national or officially recognized language, our vocational training centres even teaches in mother tongue of the youths making them to learn even faster.
- While other trainings rely heavily in printed books bought in the city or imported, our training would produce locally relevant teaching-learning materials, allowing children to learn to read from materials that deal with their local environment and local livelihoods.
- Most schools depend on teacher 'centred ‘chalk and talk’ and traditional rote learning, but our schools innovate using youth-centred methodologies, making learning stimulating and fun.
- Above all rather than depend on professional teachers with high social and living standards, our schools depend on local people who are highly committed and can be trained by KUAP periodically.
- Our vocational centres are reaching the poorest youths and we normally enroll more girls than boys. Our centres have creative teaching and joyful learning environment making learners learn fast, more responsible and productive members of their communities.
- We are community based and our learning programme is reviewed periodically to embrace the changing market and job trends as well as management and use of natural resources. Its also targets to secure livelihoods of people living in the peri-urban areas.
- We ensure youths are linked to employment after training. We have an option for formal employment and self employment whereby youths who don’t get employment are assisted by a job hunter to startup their small businesses.
